Mappings are powerful links between your data and Figma layers. Before creating a mapping, make sure you have added at least one dataset in the Data explorer tab.
Click on “Create my first mapping”
Select each dataset source and their corresponding Figma layer in order to start linking specific data to your designs. You can add as many datalinks as you want for a single mapping.
When choosing which dataset to link to your designs, you can select a format for the data. For example, if you’re going to insert a date of birth, select this format from the dropdown to ensure that your data is correctly formatted every time.
You can also optionally add a prefix or suffix to the data you’re inserting in your designs. For example, before every instance of a date of birth, we might want to add a text prefix such as “Born on:”. Simply type this text into the prefix field and it will automatically be applied before the data.
For example, you may want to set up a Mapping to quickly fill multiple layers that are repeated in your designs, such as a profile card. So here we’ve linked the Avatar
data with all shape layers called “Ellipse”, DateOfBrith
with all text layers called “DOB” and the FullName
data with all text layers called “Name”.
Click on “Create mapping” to save your first mapping and give it a name to help you identify it.
Now, select one or all Figma layers that you want to apply the data to and use the mapping to apply the relevant data in bulk by clicking “Apply first X results to all selected layers”.
To create another mapping, click on the 3 dots in the top-right corner and select “Create new mapping”. From here you can also edit, delete or duplicate existing mappings.
